The reaction was somewhat surprising. Her wrist gripped and squeezed hard, he was then facing her side as her free hand went up to her shoulder holding it to keep the pressure constant. Next Yoizuki made his way up. He was as awkward as ever and really didn't help the situation either. His smelling thing and the want to touch the fishman was obviously going to make things worse. To top it off, another ship in port started to unload a large group of men and the obvious commander. If this was a manga, he was easily be spotted as a central character by the way he was detailed compared to the others. The pirate from before came closer and the two men started singing. Not helping her either.
The Bounty Hunter looked towards the fishman and a smile formed on her face. A type of smile that one would normally associate with a demon, piranah fishman, or a trapper who had caught their prey. Swiftly swinging her head under her held arm, she moved and turned so her bicep was across her chest. Then with a deft leap back to land on the ground with her back and a twist to her side, pulling the arm he was already holding with her momentum, she went for an armdrag judo toss that would send the fishman back into the water and release his grip on her. Once free from him, she would roll back onto her shoulders and kick up with her legs, landing on her feet and in a combat squat. The little puff balls finally jingling as she assumed this pose. "That type of attitude won't let you survive for long on this island. People all over will be bumping into you. That is, unless you have a crew with you." |

From her side, she heard a loud splash, thud, and shout as another had made a similar entrance. The features of him, teeth, fingers, the fact that he leapt from the water like a breaching Deep Blue Shark, there was no doubt in her mind that he was a fishman. She turned towards him and noticed Yoizuki finally making his way out to her. Just as she was about to greet them both, there came a yawn that snatched her attention away. A pirate...solo...If it was any other day, the hunt would be on. Sure there was a pirate right there. Easy pickings, but the dock was full of pirates, revolutionaries, and other bounty hunters. If they started a scuffle here, it could set off a chain reaction that would tear the entire island to pieces disturbing the lovely view. Right now she would just give a slow, light shake of the head to Yoi before walking over to the Fishman.
Her eyes started to take in the closer details. A Grin was coming up over her face as she walked behind him. She noticed just how soaked his clothing was. He definitly spent alot of time under water. No Weapons other than his natural ones. He chose to swim here instead of riding a boat, meant that currently he was unencumbered by a crew, or rather to her, no one would miss him if he vanished aboard her vesel as a new member. She stood straight next to him looing out to the dock facing in the same direction as him before moving a hand up and moving it quickly to hard pat him on the back. "Welcome to Cactus Island. Pirate or Hunter?" |

Well it seemed he at least knew how to gut small fish with skill. She looked to the sixteen other men as they drew their blades. Seemed they weren't wanting to attract more attention with the sound of gunfire. "Whirlwind, Welcome to the first stage of hell. Move quickly and wipe out as many as you can with each stroke. The one in the back, white suit. He's mine. No boss fights for you until after the third stage." With her final instructions sent out, Kari stood up from her fallen prey and slumped back a bit as if her arms weighed a ton. As a group of five men rushed her, she slumped forward and basically flipped over the first two, landing in the center of the five. She went into a side leg split and whipped her hair around. The kunai in her hair moved quickly. Her hair pulling back the handles as the blade tip ripped through thier stomachs.
With her cover about to fall from the five, she moved her legs in front of her and tumbled backwards, moving up to a handstand before landing on her feet, the wakizashi having rotated on the ground so she was holding both of them as anyone would. Now they were down to eleven....no twelve. One of the men she sliced open didn't completely fall over and was on his knees, about to slah towards her. Tough bastard. She took a half step back, but not to retreat. She twisted her hips and then shot her left foot into her right foot, which propelled it up and sent it flying to her side, which connected under his chin, knocking him out. At least now he would be unconcious when he died. While she had to focus on her own attackers and target, she had to keep an eye out for Yoizuki. Not only taking in his tactics and abilities, but also seeing if he was ready for second stage. |

The Heaven's Bounty received the flyers for Cactus Island. And what Captain would not go full steam towards something promising Large Prizes. It was also a way to recruit new Hunters for her Crew. Right now all she had was Yoi. With her eyes on the horizon, Kari Val steered ehr ship towards the dangerous Cactus Island port. There were going to be so many pirates and Bounty hunters. Even a revolutionary or two. Her eyes practically sparkled. Not only can she gather information on future marks, but she could recruit. With the premise on the horizon she was dressed to impress. Her long twin tails had a slight shine to them. She had a pair of light lavendar bands around the bases keeping them in place. She had a white tube top shirt covering her with a short sleeve white jacket that had lavendar sleeves and a hood draped in the back. Because of Yoi's Fishing habits, she had to forgo the skirts in her closet when they were going into port, so to complement the top, she had a pair of denim shorts, dyed with the left side lavendar and the right side bleached white. She broke out a pair of white sandles with a thick heel. The straps holding the base to her feet, wrapped around her ankles so they weren't flying anywhere. Her fashion was not without function. A Black belt keeping her shorts in place also had a dual end sheath where her two wakizashi sat in a perfect line, one handle to each side. Across both thighs she had a bag strapped where she held her kunai.
As she pulled the Fallen Cherub into posrt, She hailed a couple other bounty hunters on the dock and tossed them the rope to tie off, This rig required four to sail, minimum, but the two of them working, or sometimes her by herself had to get it done. So she would rope in dock workers when pulling into a port. With her ship tied off, she did a cartwheel down the steps to the main deck and kicked the gang plank down. It was time to make her entrance. She adjusted her twin tails into the hood of her jacket and pulled it up. The kunai inside her hair pulled them into the jester like extensions from the hood, all the way down to the white fluffy spheres at the end. With the hood up completely hiding her hair, she put on a black mask that went just around her eyes and took a step onto the gang plank. "Caaaaaactus Island! The Heaven's bounty is here! Kari N. Val Sanjou!"
As she walked down the gang plank, she gave a wink to the tow that tied up her ship to the dock and turned toward the island. |

With her partner standing in a flanking position, Kari got a quick assesment of the thugs inside. Roughly twenty of them. One boss all the way in the back. He was easily spotted in his white business suit and cane. Sure enough, there was little time before the two bodies at the door holding open the sunlight was found. It was the boss though who screamed at the top of his lungs to close the door. This turned all of thier attention towards the two. Kari popped up on one of the barrels and stood like Wonder woman, Hands on her hips, blades pointing towards the audience. "I am Kari N. Val. Captain of the Heaven's Bounty! And I am taking you all down right now!"
There was a slight silence in the warehouse, only the sound of machines and fruit going around before all the thugs started laughing. Two falling over clutching their sides. But the hillarity ended when she held up her hand. She had their attention. She then moved her hand swiftly forward. There was a pucker factor of eight going around the factory as many were expecting reinforcements to storm in. But the only thing that happened was one man screaming in pain as he fell, A Kunai lodged in his groin. Kari was leaping through the air, coming down with a slashing pounce on another thug. |

Just as Yoizuki arrived over to his final location, she had finished the apple. She didn't want to leave evidence of her presence, mainly because of her training. Tucking the core into her sash, she drew her wakzashi and held them in front of her the blades were pointing up and the sharp edge pointed towards her. In all appearences, it seemed like she was going to be striking her foes with the blunt side. She cast a simple look over to her hunting partner. Watching his actions and determining what she would have to work on. First and foremost she would need to get him a memo board or something so he would REMEMBER TO MAKE BREAKFAST IN THE *^&%$@^*$&(&G MORNING! While the rest of her was quiet, calm, and cold like a cemetary, the glance she shot him looked like it could send him there.
Just in time to save him, the door clicked open. That was their in. With a quick nod, Kari ran out around the barrels and right past the two thugs in the door. The men collpased behind her clutching their sides. The sides kari had just ran past was bleeding heavily. The abnormal way she held her short katanas made standing in her wake a dangerous area. The blades would slice cleanly through with her speed not her strength as the guiding factor. Her height, when swept forward and arms hangign by her sides left the blades at a dangerous level of the abdomen.
She was inside the warehouse, hiding. The dispatching of the two new guards not yet noticed, but they would be seen within seconds. Just enough time to get in and possibly make the first strike. |

Kari just smiled to him and reached over ruffling his hair. Her smile was bright and a little misleading. She looked back to the open waters and just sailed. This was the start to something really great. A crew of Bounty hunters. Five people going after the same target. Five styles merging into one battle. Five lone wolves forming a pack. There was nothing that was going to stop them. "We will start tomorrow if you survive our mission." With the sun setting in front of them, she yawned and thought of the next day and the meeal tonight. This was going to be a great life.

With all that out of the way, Kari noticed that her sudden sit up, turn to point, and flustered moment caused her to turn the wheel with her hair and they started to turn to the right. Moving her head forward, her unleashed the wheel, slid onto her feet, ran around quickly to the wheeel and adjusted the wheel back to correct the course. This caused a bit of shaking, but she had her projected path back. Hopefully, she wasn't too far off, but she'll have to wait until night fall to check. With that moment of crisis out of the way, she flopped back on the wheel. "Yoizuki Style Ninjutsu does not exist yet. It is a style of fighting that only you can achieve. To train you in it, I will send you into the nine gates of hell. Same as when I created Kari-ken, you will learn more about your body and mind than you ever thought possible. There will always be roots in the Val Clan Ninjutsu, so you will have some enemies, but as a bounty hunter I am sure you expected that."
She reached over to get her plate and one of her twin tails clanked agaisnt the metal hub of the wheel. A flash of blank inside it revealed a longer than normal black kunai hidden by her long blonde hair. When she stood back up it was gone and she snacked on more fish belly. It was delicious. She could eat like this every day. However the thought that she would be so close to her old Home Island, erased some of the hunger. She was going there for work. Surely the clan could understand and not go to harsh on that Exile thing. I mean they were a small fisher clan to the Island Government, even they couldn't get the Marines or Constable to throw her back off.
Her face stopped cold for a second then snapped a look over to him. "Riceballs for breakfast tomorrow!" |

FKari watched with mild interest and watered mouth as he returned with a plate of roasted fish. But she made no immediate movement as her twin tail was leashed to the helm. She did appreciate the knife skills as he served up some belly. Which was precisely where it was going, her belly. She took the plate and fork in hand. Feet still kicked up on the railing, she took a bite and her exposed toes curled abit. It was delicious. She never thought a Twilight Snapper could taste like this. Not opening her mouth, in case the flavor would escape, her cheeks puffed up a bit and she offered a thumbs up in responce to how it tasted.
It wasn't until he sat down that she realized just how tall he was. Height was something she could take advatage of when training him. Reach was important. Then he introduced himself. This was the part she dreaded. She kidnapped him specifically so she didn't have to exchange names, She could have just been captain and everything was fine. But he had to go an ruin it with his info. Curse you politeness. Sticking another peice of belly she savored it before she would offer her share of the information. "I am Kari N. Val, former Heiress of the Val Ninja Clan of Shimotsuki Village. This ship is my home and life now. I started bounty hunting as a way to keep my skills honed."
She looked a bit flustered and then swiftly pointed fdirectly to him accusingly. "You will now have to take resposibility for having me talk about my past. You will be the Chef of The Heaven's Bounty Bounty Hunter Crew. But you will not be working for free. In addition to a cot or hammock of your choice and passage through all the Blues and the Grandline, you will be trained in Yoizuki Style Ninjutsu. |

He was nimble. She likey. It was hard to train someone in the ways fo the ninja if they were clumsy. When he called out about the pan and roast, she just relaxed. No fire to her ship. Still sailing. She just had to wait until she sees him in combat to see what she needed to work on. She whipped her head to the side, getting one of her twin tails tightly around a peg of the wheel, using the bob of her head to steer the ship. She had to look at his defense, tactical agility, offensive skills, and where his line was.
She had to admit the way his body moves was interesting. It almost seemed like he could rotate on a pivot at any joint. Perhaps she should take away his dagger for some shield training. Or even better. Give him two clothes and get a really good shine on the timbers. She could even play it off when he questions it as a way to build his discipline, or "If you don't know what is the purpose of this task, you have not finished." Oooh that was good, she was going have to use that when ever she put him to work. Her baot is going to look spotless. Internal girly squee of excitement. |

He seemed interested in the fish enough to consider it being before it's time. He then started talking in lenght about his dagger and skills. All she heard though was Blah blah blah. Then he asked her a series of questions. Talkative little kidnapee. She might as well humor him since he was cooking. Stepping out from behind the wheel, she sat on one of the folding chairs and crossed her legs while chowing down on another piece of Sashimi. "In order. Eventually. Idiots. Yes. Everyone can fight, the question all comes to how well trained they are. Yes. And It was ok, because it was young it was a little tart." Licking her finger tips she stretched and kicked her feet up on the railing, folding her arms behind her head. She hadn't been this relaxed in a long time, just perfect before answering an All call Hunt.
Her nose picked up something in the briney sea air. It was smoke. Could it just be dust burning on something that had not heated up in a year? This entire ship needed a good scrubbing down. Maybe at the next port. She could afford two days of dock fees with this task. She then looked over to him. "You have something in the oven?" |

Kari listened as he set the food on the table in front fo the wheel. The sun shining bright on the unprotected quarterdeck the helm stood in the center of added to the environment. As she reached through the wheel to get a piece, she popped it in her mouth and chewed lightly, taking in the taste. The smile on her face shined as she enjoyed how it melted. "That would be Morse Tuna. Thier scales go in a specific pattern. You can translate words, sentances, or books off of their scales, depending on the fish. The Val Clan raies them in an off shore net housing. They are only harvested after they reach novel size."
She took another piece and enjoyed it. It was so nice having a home cooked meal, even though this wasn't cooked. Not to mention how he handled himself. As she placed both hands back on the wheel, she leaned turned a bit and looked over at the open seas. She would need help soon. "Nice dagger by the way. How good are you at using it?" |

It was a simple sounding call out. A small payday for a hunter to help the Marines shut down a warehouse full of armed thugs. And they had to do it on her home Island. The Devil's Bride (at least thats what she hopes other will call her in the future) Kari Natalia Val was ducked behind the barrel waiting to see who else was coming to back her up. Most likely she was going to be the back up, but why burst her ego bubble.
The twin tailed blonde had all of her weapons on her today. Her outfit was actually a throw back to her home. A full black one piece suit with a black mask pulled over her nose and mouth. Black sash around the mid section held her wakizashi in place. Black wrapping around her thighs kept her kunai at the ready. Dazzling blue eyes looked around at the thugs on patrol. really mangy looking. Not too bright. But they had numbers. As the patrol walked into the warehouse, the tabi donned feet of hers took off, keeping low until she found a good hiding place behind a set of barrels.
From here she could smell the scent of sliced fruits of all different flavors. Just the scent made her mouth water. The sound of machines slicing the juicy succulent fruit made it a much harder temptation to resist. She had not eaten today. As she was just about to make her first move to secure an entrance, one of the thugs walked by, munching an apple. Seeing the bright red skin and feeling a bit of the juice hit her forehead was too much to handle. She sprang up from behind the barrels like a ravenous tiger, pounced her prey, kicked his head, and zoomed back behind the barrel to eat an apple. |

As he voiced his concerns about the leaving island, Kari just nodded silently. As she spun the wheel, there was a slight shift in the boat. The turn was actually away from the island a bit more. Spinning the wheel back to center, she just held it in place, moving with the feel of the rudder. "Very observant. We will come back to the island after an errand in Shimitsuki Village. I was heading to my ship to head to set sail anyways. If I stayed another hour, I would have had to pay another day's taxes for the port."
The breeze was decent for sailing. Not to rough, The waves were no where near the railing. She could stand to have this type of weather all of her life. "Did you have something you needed to do there this week? If not I could really use your talents on this hunt. Plus you owe me for my skirt." |

It was a bit of a relief to see that he was so caught up in cooking he didn't notice her taking off. He asked about rice and kept on rambling. She just walked over to the cabinet and revealed a 25 lb bag of short grain rice, still unopened. Next to it was a stack of nori (seaweed) sheets. She was savoring the sceane even more than the smell in the air. It was like he was in his own play ground. Her eyes watched the way he moved and his thoughts verbalized set into motion. Each and every action told her something to his future potential. He could be great with enough training. When he finally stopped talking and wanted a reminder of what she wanted she just chuckled. "Oh I was just coming in to get the table. It's a nice sunny day, when it is ready, how about we eat at the helm?"
Without another word or gesture she picked up two chairs and a small folding table and carried them out of the galley and up the single set of stairs to the helm. They were straight enough now. She opened the chairs near the railing and set the table up in front of the wheel. She then turned the wheel just enough to release the rope as let it slide off and spun it to bring the vessel straight. She then stayed at the wheel, whistling as she kept her vessel going forward. Next stop Shimotsuki Village. |
